Three Things You Need to Know about the
Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) or "Card Check Bill"

For more than 45 years, NCA has been the only Washington, D.C.-based trade association whose focus is lobbying Congress specifically for the benefit of private clubs and our industry.

Our Government Relations team includes former staffers for the Vice President of the United States, a member of the U. S. Senate, a member of the House of Representatives, and the Republican National Committee. This experience and perspective has helped NCA build strong relationships with members of Congress and those in the Administration which, in turn, allows NCA to be in the room and at the table when decisions affecting your club and the club industry are being made on Capitol Hill and in the federal agencies.

NCA’s continued presence on Capitol Hill has resulted in many  legislative and  regulatory achievements, and our work with numerous allied  associations and coalitions also helps us to advance the interests of private clubs on a broad range of topics.

Most importantly, our Government Relations team is in-house, not outside lobbyists who represent other interests, industries or causes. Our staff focuses solely on our members’ needs.

As with many trade associations, NCA has its political action committee. The mission of NCA’s ClubPAC is to utilize financial support from staff members of NCA member clubs to invest in political candidates supportive of the private club community and to further the legislative goals of NCA. It is an essential part of NCA’s Government Relations and lobbying efforts, and our members know that their contributions to ClubPAC are an investment in good government.

NCA also has established the Government Relations Education Fund ( GREF ). The mission of the NCA Government Relations Education fund is to enhance NCA’s activities by supporting advocacy of key legislative, legal and regulatory issues. It is through this fund that we provide further educational resources and research for our members on specific matters of interest as we assist them with grassroots lobbying initiatives in their home states.

Being the “Advocate for Clubs” does not just limit our attention to federal and state legislation and regulations. We also advocate on behalf of our members in court cases and legal issues across the country. Indeed, some of those matters have an even greater impact on our industry than any piece of legislation. Drawing on the expertise of our in-house counsel and attorneys serving on NCA’s board of directors, NCA stands ready to tackle the most difficult legal issues facing private clubs.

Through the Government Relations department, our lobbying and legal team puts our members’ interests first. That has been NCA’s mission from its inception, and it is the mission we carry forward today.
