San Francisco Attorney William I. Edlund passed away on December 24, 2016. He is survived by his beloved wife, Iris Johnson Edlund, and by his loving daughter Campbell Edlund and cherished granddaughter, Jessen, both of Boston, Massachusetts.
Bill began his law career with Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro of San Francisco in 1956 and practiced with the firm for 43 years, leading his own litigation group. In 1999, he joined Bartko Zankel Bunzel Miller, where he practiced until his death. He represented many large public and private corporations and individuals in complex commercial litigation and individuals and private clubs in discrimination, privacy, employment, discipline and First Amendment claims and advised and represented in litigation many private clubs on privacy and general club law.
Edlund lectured and participated in legal workshops, various task forces and professional committees including presentations before the National Club Association, California State Club Association, and Club Managers Association of America. He served on the NCA board of directors from 1996 to 2005, serving as NCA Secretary from 2004 to 2005. A strong NCA advocate, Bill continued to work with NCA, assisting in the development of NCA’s 2010 publication, The Legal Reference Guide for Private Clubs.
