Welcome to 2018! The New Year is time for resolutions, and I am sure your resolutions, like mine, revolve around the issues affecting family, health and home. Because the club is, indeed, a second home and family for members and staff, I am offering some resolutions for your club life that will benefit you in 2018.

Make sure you are taking advantage of all that the National Club Association (NCA) has to offer it members. Here's a list of ways to commit your club to being stronger in 2018:

1. Participate in at least one NCA webinar. NCA webinars are free for members and whether live or archived, provide easy access to the best in club education.

2. Attend the 2018 National Club Conference April 16-18 in Los Angeles, featuring thought leaders in the private club, entertainment and hospitality industries and world-class social events.

3. Stay active in NCA’s advocacy efforts. Call your Congressperson, participate in NCA’s grassroots programming, and sign the ClubPAC permission to solicit form. ClubPAC, NCA’s political action committee, is NCA’s vehicle to financially support congressmen and senators who advance issues important to our member clubs and the private club industry.

4. Use NCA’s Resource Center.  NCA provides a comprehensive collection of educational resources that help club leaders effectively manage their clubs today and down the road. These industry-leading resources cover the latest laws and regulations that affect clubs, industry news, best practices, alerts and trends that will shape the club landscape.

5. Visit the NCA website for the latest information and private club news and the membership portal.  This portal allows you to add staff and board members to access NCA’s resources and update and modify your NCA account.

6. Take advantage of NCA’s member benefits. Use our Trends Tracker to stay abreast of the latest trends in key areas that impact clubs. Have your questions answered in a free one-on-one consultation with NCA’s subject matter experts, including Brad Steele, NCA’s VP of Government Relations & General Counsel, the industry’s knowledge leader in private club legal, legislative and regulatory issues.

7. Follow us on Twitter (@NatlClubAssn) to get updates on NCA, our lobbying efforts and the private club industry.

8. Have your club donate to the National Club Association Foundation. The NCA Foundation funds programs to provide insight and analysis of the forces likely to shape the future club experience.

9. Connect with one of our Corporate Partners and Preferred Vendors. NCA’s vibrant network of leading industry allies allows members to access experts in a multitude of club fields.

10. Share one of our e-newsletters with a colleague. Whether it is a legislative update on an issue impacting clubs written about in Washington Weekly Update, the latest club news found in Club Industry Brief, or an in-depth “how-to” on navigating a new regulation or club governance matter from NCA CONNECT, our e-newsletters provide relevant, timely information your club needs to know.

I wish you all the best in adhering to your personal resolutions and encourage you to tick off at least one or two of the above resolutions—your staff and members will appreciate it.

Warm Regards,
Henry Wallmeyer
